Recently, I’ve been visiting gardens that I worked on last year, to see how they’ve developed and how the planting has established. I’m pleased with how this lake-front garden is settling in, still looking lovely even in October.

It’s the time of year when the garden is starting to look a little tatty, and in need of a firm hand.
Here are some suggestions of what to do now, to continue enjoying your garden into the late autumn. You can often enjoy warm days and nights well into October, and the soil, particularly if you garden on clay soil, is still welcoming for new plants and seeds.
